In this play, Allen Morita, a Japanese American, is determined to be a male mother. In order to adopt a child, he marries Jenny, who is thirteen years his senior and has long ceased to have an interest in physical love. Allen finally adopts Alice in 1987. He has raised her all by himself like a mother. On June 14, 2000, Alice is missing. A dead body in the woods leads people to believe that she was sexually abused and killed.
