CHARLIE Woodson is a park ranger for the state of California in Fortuna CA. After a near death experience on a rural county road, he finds himself forever changed, following his time in the afterlife with the angel called NEVAEH. As it turns out, the change in Charle isn't just mental and spiritual, but physical as well. For, in time, his daughter-to-come, ANGEL, proves to be angelic in her own right. As he watches her grow up and blossom into youth, his observations about her character and abilities translate into a theory: Endowment of angel DNA via himself and his intimacy with Nevaeh, then passed on through his own wife into their child. When Charlie shares the idea with her, Angel scoffs - until the day she unexpectedly ushers a man through an NDE herself! Shot while trying to be a hero in a convenience store robbery, DAN is introduced to Angel, who inexplicably leaves her own body as he leaves his, to guide him spiritually much as Nevaeh once guided Charlie. Interactions with Dan introduce Angel and Charlie to his friends, SIERRA the psychic, and CHELSEA the detective; opening a path to paranormal investigations revolving around the advent of Nevaeh herself, other angels, and - demons!
