In the early 1600s, the people of Earth were forever changed when a meteor roared into its atmosphere, shattered into hundreds of pieces, and crashed all over the planet, killing thousands. And as children of the time grew into adulthood, many of them displayed strange, impossible abilities: incredible strength; inhuman speed; the ability to control elements; the power to read minds; and countless others.
