They are suffering under the constant Indian raids instigated by the British and plead for protection. Because of Henry's knowledge of Indian ways, General George Washington requests his services as a scout for General Sullivan in the campaign to forever break the power of the Iroquois Confederacy. In the fall of 1779, the combined armies of Generals Sullivan and Clinton sweep across New York State, destroying Indian villages and crops.
