What if one scientific breakthrough could change the world-and powerful people would kill to stop it?
New Zealand scientist Roger Tindall and his partner Karen are secretly developing a revolutionary new source of clean, virtually unlimited energy. Hidden deep in the wilderness of Fiordland, their team is working on technology that could make fossil fuels obsolete and transform the future of humanity.
But someone is watching.
As equipment disappears and increasingly dangerous attempts are made to sabotage their work, Roger and Karen realise their discovery has attracted powerful enemies with everything to lose. From Auckland to the remote forests of the South Island, the team must protect their secret while racing to complete their extraordinary invention.
Bastards is a fast-moving thriller of science, espionage, adventure and ambition-and a vision of what could happen if humanity finally broke free from its dependence on fossil fuels.
