Moreover the breeder could select molecular markers that are tightly linked to a specific gene for identifying genotypes carrying that trait. Unfortunately the information pertaining to molecular assisted breeding is limited in Bauhinia and there is an urgent need to develop genetic characterization of different species in Bauhinia for further research and selection.
