Kenai is just an ordinary kid who likes the simple things in life. Things like hunting down ghosts in haunted movie theaters, getting lost in underground bunkers, and running from herds of jackalopes in the Badlands with his best friend: an artificially intelligent drone named Tinkerbell.
You know, the simple things.
As the youngest investigator for Beyond Belief, the world's premier paranormal investigation organization, Kenai lives a pretty exciting life. But all that spooky fun comes to a crashing halt when he has to go live with the Chumps. Again. Now poor Kenai is stuck going door-to-door selling Happy Day products in a pyramid scheme. It's all pretty boring until Kenai discovers that Happy Day is much more sinister than it seems. Now it is up to him and Tinkerbell to solve the case and save the world - all while being chased by zombies!
Beyond Belief: The Adventure of Zombie Island is the second book in a fun new adventure series for middle readers, ages 8 to 12, which teaches kids how to think critically and stay skeptical even when grownups are falling for the paranormal. Kids will learn difficult critical thinking concepts like how to use Socratic questions, how to stay skeptical when others are falling for woo, the halo effect, social reciprocity, confirmation bias, the Barnum effect - and much more! And they will learn these in the context of an adventure so fun they will never even know they are learning. It's the reading version of sneaking veggies into their favorite snack!
Written by a child psychologist with years of helping kids think critically, the Beyond Belief series will entertain and inspire. You can learn more about the author and the series at www.raisingaskepticalkid.com.
