This book discusses border towns in the context of increased cross-border migration, urbanisation, regional development, and integration in Africa. It explores the centrality of border towns in Africa and how they both implicate and are in turn impacted by cross-border trade and flows, cross-border (in)security, spatial transformation, development, and regional integration. Borders play a paradoxical yet generative role, simultaneously enabling and constraining the development trajectories of these towns.
