Synopsis:
BRUTAL REALITY is a visceral, unflinching novel that plunges into the darkest corners of modern England, where the law has failed and ordinary people are left to fend for themselves. Inspired by the 2026 action-thriller Citizen Vigilante, directed by Uwe Boll and starring Armie Hammer, the story follows Douglas "DJ" Jones, a 42 year old warehouse supervisor and former amateur boxer from Sheffield whose quiet, law-abiding life collapses when his teenage daughter Sophie is slashed across the face by a gang of repeat offenders who walk free on bail.
As the justice system repeatedly fails him, dropping charges, releasing predators, and looking the other way, DJ's faith in the institutions he once trusted crumbles. What begins as sleepless night walks through a broken city soon hardens into something far more dangerous. Masked and armed with little more than his fists, a GoPro, and a rage he can no longer contain, DJ becomes the "Sheffield Shadow": a vigilante who delivers brutal, extra-legal justice to drug dealers, groomers, and violent thugs the police cannot or will not stop.
But Brutal Reality is no revenge fantasy. As DJ descends deeper into violence, he discovers that the darkness he fights is slowly consuming him, fracturing his marriage, alienating his daughter, and drawing the relentless attention of Detective Inspector Sarah Holt, a career officer torn between duty and sympathy.
