Eighteen years after Mathew Abbott vanished without a trace, his son Samuel has grown up with questions no one seems willing to answer.
Determined to uncover the truth about the father the world gave up for dead, Samuel follows a trail of military secrets, hidden files, and unanswered questions that leads him far from Brightfield and into Somalia. What begins as a personal search soon becomes something far more dangerous.
Beneath the surface lies a secret facility connected to a terrifying military experiment involving stolen identities, cloned soldiers, altered memories, and men who were never supposed to return home. As Samuel moves closer to the truth, he meets Mina, a mysterious young woman with dangerous family ties and knowledge that could either save him or destroy everything he has come to believe.
Then Samuel discovers the impossible.
Mathew may still be alive.
Hidden underground for nearly eighteen years, Mathew has survived captivity, experimentation, and repeated attempts to strip away the memories that made him who he was. But finding him is only the beginning. Samuel must determine which version of Mathew is real, survive a facility designed to test bloodlines, loyalty, fear, and identity, and uncover the conspiracy responsible for sending copies of soldiers back into the lives they once knew.
As father and son fight their way toward freedom, the truth reaches all the way back to Brightfield-and to Annalese, the woman who spent eighteen years believing she had lost the man she loved forever.
Chasing Mathew 2: The Soldier Beneath is a gripping blend of military suspense, romantic drama, family secrets, conspiracy, survival, and emotional reunion. At its heart is a powerful story about identity, sacrifice, the enduring strength of love, and one son's determination to bring his father home.
Some soldiers are lost.
Others are hidden.
And some truths refuse to stay buried.
