Oncology refers to a branch of medicine concerned with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cancer. There are four major divisions of oncology, which includes radiation oncology, medical oncology, clinical oncology and surgical oncology. Clinical oncology encompasses all non-surgical cancer treatments, such as systemic therapies and radiotherapy. The domains of clinical oncology and radiotherapy have undergone fast transformations as a result of technological advancements. Improvement in the imaging quality and computer processing power has enhanced radiotherapy, which allows the treatment to be delivered effectively, safely and efficiently for better patient outcomes. Since a cancer diagnosis may cause anxiety and distress, clinicians can also utilize a variety of interventions to provide emotional support such as SPIKES. This book explores all the important aspects of clinical oncology in the modern day. It is a compilation of chapters that discuss the most vital concepts and emerging trends in this field. This book will serve as a reference to a broad spectrum of readers.
