In light of the Easter faith, it makes the connections between the ministry and the passion of Jesus present for the first time in narrative form. Jesus embraces his mission to communicate the kingdom of God, as the Son of God in the midst of people, as a Jew for all peoples. The Gospel responds to a profound crisis of society and church, which is brought to a head by the Jewish War. It reveals the topicality of Jesus's preaching: Faith colors all areas of life because, by following Jesus, it unites the saving relationship to God with social responsibility for one's neighbor. This orientation develops in the tradition of a living community, which Mark summarizes and maintains. The Gospel of Mark is interpreted as a fundamental testimony of personal Christology, which has had a lasting impact on the image of Jesus and continues to stimulate discussion of him to this day.
