Keres has found his life turned upside down. A Grim Reaper from when time started, the events of Vampires Don't Do Brunch have led him to a new life. Awakened in Los Angeles, he finds himself a member of Clan LA. Confused by all the intense emotions he can now feel, some for a vampire he's known for a long time, he must make his way among the undead and try to discover a new way to survive in a realm he has often visited but never lived in. The unfortunate part of having been Death, is that death still remembers you when you wish it didn't. He finds that not only are there those among the realms that are not ready to forgive his past role on the wheel, but even death itself seeks his return to the helm.
Amalia Wavell has filled her time since she awoke as a vampire with goals. Accomplished within the vampire world, she even sports a law degree. Her past as an English suffragette makes her believe there is nothing hard work can't solve. Knowing Keres from his Reaper past, they have always been friendly. However, he was Death, and not any one being in those duties, appearing in many forms. Now, he is merely a member of Clan LA-an incredibly handsome, sweet, and charming member. She is inclined to protect him from the pain their realm holds. As they spend time together, she finds herself wanting to break clan rules for their newest member. As the dangers begin to ramp up, she must decide what she will risk to protect him and if she can guard her own heart as clan rules demand.
Two beings who have lived a long time without falling in love may find their unique friendship the best springboard to a more profound love than they could have imagined and a passion neither knew existed. Both may find they've been dying to fall in love.
