Die Reformation wird schnell mit dem Schlagwort »Bildung« verknüpft. Doch was heißt das konkret? Inwieweit ist sie selbst Bildungsgeschehen? Und worin besteht die Prägung auch auf katholischer Seite, wie wirkt sich die Reformation sowohl historisch wie auch aktuell ökumenisch auf ein je spezielles konfessionelles wie ökumenisches Bildungsverständnis aus?Die Beiträge des Bandes gehen dem historischen Zusammenhang zwischen der Reformation und dem neuzeitlichen Bildungsideal nach, vergleichen den reformatorischen Zugang zum Verhältnis von Glaube, Vernunft und Bildung mit dessen Bestimmung in der gemeinsame kirchlichen Tradition und im katholischen Bereich. Zudem wird gefragt nach der Relevanz konfessioneller Bildung auf der einen und eines der Rationalität verpflichteten theologischen Denkens auf der anderen Seite. But what does that mean concretely? To what extent is it an event of education itself? And what is its impact on the Catholic side, what is the Reformation's influence historically and currently on the specific confessional and ecumenical understandings of education?The contributions of this volume explore the historical connections between the Reformation and the modern educational ideal. They compare the reformational approach regarding the relation between faith, reason and education with the different understandings of this relation in the common ecclesial tradition and in Catholicism. Finally conclusions are drawn with regard to the common commitment of the churches for a Christian educational ideal.
