Four beds. One observation window. Something in the wires is hungry for dreams.
Elias Fontaine keeps waking up in places he never walked to. The laundry room in the basement. The bathtub, with his shoes on. The roof of his building - eleven stories up, behind a door chained shut from the other side. He is twelve years old, he is a sleepwalker, and he is running out of places that feel safe to close his eyes.
So when his mom signs him up for a sleep study at Wexler Children's Clinic, Elias tells himself it's good news. Doctors. Monitors. A room with walls and a door that locks. His best friend Kimani Wright signs up too, just to keep an eye on him, because that's what Kimani does.
Then the electrode caps go on. And the dreams start going missing.
