The kiwi is a small, flightless bird that belongs to a unique group of birds known as ratites, which are characterized by their inability to fly and their flat breastbone structure. Unlike most birds, which have strong breast muscles attached to a keeled sternum for flight, the kiwi lacks this structure, making flight impossible. Instead, its body is adapted for life on the ground, where it spends all of its time moving, feeding, and nesting.
