Life is free in The Country, but at what cost?
For readers who prefer slow burn dystopian fiction with a creeping tension. If you enjoyed The Circle by Dave Eggars, or Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, you might enjoy this book.
Technology will protect you. Your data sets you free. All equal. All free. Free of money. Free of need. Bear witness to the splendour of a world free of wanting. Free of suffering. Free of poverty. A Freeworld.
When Sami receives a rare invite to visit The Country as an unofficial cultural influencer, he can hardly believe his luck. Finally, someone has recognised all the hard work he's put into his channel, Next Step. Sami Zeri, futurist vlogger and influencer, is obsessed with the secretive but progressive Country. Its drone and android technologies, its total reliance on AI systems, its cashless culture, and peaceful societal structure - surely a blueprint for the future of humankind? Where work and money have been phased out and everything is automated and convenient. Citizens are totally free, just like everything else in The Country. Goods, food, life. For Sami, vlogging from The Country itself - something no one has ever done before - would see his channel reach millions. And then, of course, there's the fame that is sure to follow.
