Some towns never die...they just wait.
Gideon Thorn has faced down cannibals, monsters, and men possessed by evil. But nothing in his long, haunted journey has prepared him for Lazarus-a ghost town that shouldn't exist.
Fresh off a brutal case in frontier Missouri, Thorn is en route to Colorado when he interrupts a highway robbery...and is swept into the heart of a mystery deeper than any before. Stranded on the Kansas prairie, he and a handful of strangers are welcomed as "guests of honor" by the unnervingly polite citizens of Lazarus-a settlement thought destroyed during a Confederate raid years ago.
But something is terribly wrong. The town is frozen in time. Its inhabitants harbor unsettling secrets. And as the anniversary of its fiery razing approaches, Thorn must uncover the truth behind Lazarus before its curse consumes them all.
In a land steeped in blood and shadow, Thorn's quest for answers may end where the dead refuse to rest.
