A month before Christmas, Nina Tveit finds herself single, jobless, soon-to-be homeless and staring at the computer looking for somewhere she can afford on what little her father left her. Christmas is the time of year nisse are most known for, but Nils Jensen plans to spend it alone in his crumbling barn as he has done for the past seventy years. That is until a pretty woman turns up on his doorstep claiming to be the new owner. Not only does she not have the one thing Nils longs for, but she has forgotten the custom of bringing the barn nisse a gift, and he takes it upon himself to make her life a misery.
This is the last chance to save the beautiful old farmhouse from collapse, and as much as Nina longs to make it her home, Nils may have pushed her too far. However, leaving the farm might just have dire consequences for the nisse who makes her heart race with more than just anger at his antics.
