Matt Stevens and Josh Davidson served together in the Marines. When Matt went through one of the hardest periods of his life, Josh was there.
After their enlistments ended, distance took over. They stayed in touch the way old friends sometimes do-an occasional video game, scattered conversations, enough to keep the connection alive.
Two years later, Matt discovers that Josh has been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon.
Now Matt may have to return the favor.
What begins as an attempt to understand what happened pulls him into something far larger. The more Matt learns, the less the pieces fit. People know more than they admit. Records reveal things they were never meant to reveal. And what appears to be one man's crime begins to expose secrets that reach far beyond Josh.
Matt must decide not only what happened, but what to do with what he discovers. Because sometimes what is hidden is the very thing that can save you.
