These are poems that explore the bric -a brac- of our lives that are engrained in ordinary well used and well- loved possessions - a kitchen table, a Victorian nursing chair, a leather-bound box, a corner cupboard, a topaz ring. The voices we hear are compassionate brave and unsentimental. These are poems that speak of the highs and lows of living, the choices we make, and the dilemmas of aging.
"Jenna Plewes's poetry is unique - wise, perceptive, compassionate and full of remarkable imagery. In these poems she adds a whole new level of pleasure by introducing distinctive voices from a variety of surprising inanimate narrators. Unforgettable."
- John Adams theatre director
"In Mary Oliver's words a poem should have 'a pulse, a breathiness, some moment of earthly delight' In these poems, Jenna Plewes shares memory-rich objects with us that shine as if dusted and polished, illuminating moments from the past. Many are 'orphaned things, torn from their moorings, rummaged by ghosts' but each one offers 'a moment of earthly delight' and asks to be read aloud to 'feel its pulse settle under your finger'."
