This book provides an introduction to the history of some Industrial Schools and Reformatories in Ireland, in the context of British Government Inspector's Reports, especially where the original building is still standing today and has been put to another use. Therefore, we glimpse the establishment and early operation of these institutions before Irish Independence in 1922. A number of Magdalene Asylums are also included. The book is well illustrated with photographs, both old and new, many in colour, and so captures forgotten aspects of our social and architectural heritage.
