Jimmy is exhausted. His life is a blur of deadlines, coffee, and screen-induced stress. Then, a freak temporal displacement brings Zug - a rugged, literal Neandertal - to his cabin in the woods.

Zug sees a world of comfort and miracles; Jimmy sees a world of problems. Through somewhat rough communication, a unique friendship forms. Zug, who fights bears for survival, thinks Jimmy's existential crisis is hilarious. But as they talk, the line between "savage" and "civilized" blurs, forcing Jimmy to reconsider everything he knows about happiness, human connection, and what we've lost in the name of progress.
