Kirish'tan: Heaven's Samurai is a historical novel that depicts a slice of the glorious and tragic history of God's Church in Japan. In its pages one will see, God willing, the crucifixion of the Twenty-six Martyrs of Nagasaki, the planting of Christendom in the domain of Arima and its flourishing there, Hideyoshi's sweep through Kyushu and its grim aftermath, the conversion and fall of Arima Harunobu, and a bit of Saint Francis Xavier's labors, seen through the afflicted eyes of Lorenzo the biwa-hoshi.
The author drew upon numerous historical sources, including histories by C.R. Boxer, James Murdoch, Luis Frois, Leon Pages, Diego Yuuki, Jean Crasset, Ebisawa Arimichi, Sukeno Kentaro, and others. The reader will hopefully be moved, edified and entertained; but the author's more urgent wish is that the voices of Japan's Martyrs be heard.
