Mike slowed as the tires hit the soft earth that led to a rocky playa some one hundred yards away. He relaxed as he neared the first monstrous sentinel, realizing that he really had to stop. The road passed between two huge boulders standing guard at the entrance to the rocky cacophony. Rolling through their inviting embrace his heart slammed into his chest as he spied seven motorcycles resting with their riders just twenty yards to the right.
