Divided into three main sections that encompass monitoring, identifying, and managing algae in water treatment, this revised manual emphasizes public health concerns pertaining to toxic compounds found in the water supply and the need for further studies as the industry's analytical capacity develops. This update boasts three new chapters that focus on instrumentation,
explore the genetic basis for the biosynthesis of toxins and other secondary metabolites in cyanobacteria and algae, and provide educational tools in the form of high-resolution images of cyanobacterial and algal species. Ultimately, this new version of M57, Algae: Source to Treatment, will help water practitioners to better understand algae- and cyanobacteria-associated
problems and thereby develop and implement integrated solutions as the world faces increased impact from climate change.
