Teljes leírás

Within the context of the explosive growth in the international mergers and acquisitions arena in recent years, this book investigates the effects of changes in corporate control under varying economic conditions. In countries all around the globe, mergers and acquisitions play a key role in increasing corporate value while corporate restructuring serves to reallocate assets to their highest valued uses. This volume examines the role played by both target firms and acquiring firms in these transactions, the effects of mergers and acquisitions on value, and the effects of the legal environment and market regulation on mergers and acquisitions in a global setting. In addition, case studies of specific mergers in different countries are examined to provide an in-depth view of these transactions. Greg N. Gregoriou is a professor of finance in the School of Business and Economics at the State University of New York (Plattsburgh). He obtained his joint Ph.D. in finance from the University of Quebec at Montreal which pools the resources of Montreal's three major universities (McGill University, Concordia University and Hautes-Etudes Commerciales). He is an editorial board member of Derivatives Use, Trading and Regulation, the Journal of Wealth Management and the Journal of Risk Management in Financial Institutions. He has written over 50 articles on hedge funds and managed futures in various peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of Portfolio Management, the European Journal of Operational Research, Annals of Operations Research, and the Journal of Futures Markets. He has co-authored one book with Professor Joe Zhu and edited 19 books with Elsevier-Butterworth-Heinemann, John Wiley & Sons, Palgrave MacMillan and Risk books. Karyn L. Neuhauser is an assistant professor of finance in the School of Business and Economics at the State University of New York (Plattsburgh). She earned her doctorate in finance from Louisiana State University and has published articles in the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics and the Journal of Financial Research. She recently edited a special issue of the International Journal of Managerial Finance. She is actively involved in the Financial Management Association, the Eastern Finance Association, and the South-western Finance Association and has served as an ad hoc reviewer for the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance and the Institute for Global Management Research at George Washington University. Her research focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate control and governance, securities issuance, and dividend policy.
