The objective of this study was to isolate and identify yeasts from a fruit endemic to Madagascar, the Tapia fruit, harvested in the Arivonimamo region. After studying their cultural, morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics, 39 pure yeast strains were isolated. Their processing using the API Gallery 20 C AUX method, along with the entry of the results into the CIRM-yeast databases, enabled their identification and classification into 8 different genera and 15 different yeast species: 4 strains of Candida railenensis, 2 strains of Candida albicans, 4 strains of Nakaseomyces delphensis, 6 strains of Debaryomyces hansenii, 2 strains of Saccharromyces uvarum, 1 strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, 2 strains of Cryptococcus laurentii, 2 strains of Candida mesenterica, 1 strain of Saccharomycopsis malanga, 1 strain of Saccharomycopsis vini, 4 strains of Rhodotorula minuta, 1 strain of Candida zeylanoides, 4 strains of Trichosporon mucoides, 3 strains of Candida utilis, and 2 strains of Candida boidinii. These results show that the fruit used in our study provides a favorable environment for yeast growth.
