Mrs. Warren's Profession is a play by George Bernard Shaw, first performed in 1902. It follows the story of Mrs. Warren, a middle-aged woman who has been living off the profits of her secret profession. When her daughter Vivie discovers the truth, she is forced to confront her mother and the morality of her actions. Through this play, Shaw explores themes of socialism, morality, and gender roles. George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950) was an Irish playwright, critic, and political activist. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest playwrights of the 20th century, and his works are still widely performed today. Other notable works by Shaw include: "Pygmalion" (1912), "Major Barbara" (1905), and "Man and Superman" (1903).
