No Rats in School is a lively classroom tale about fourth graders who get not one but two mischievous class pets: rats! While some students quickly grow fond of their furry companions, Victoria is less than thrilled. Convinced rats are dirty plague-spreaders, she firmly declares her disgust--and she's not alone. Even the school cook insists, "No rats in school!"
The rats' escapades begin in earnest, from Buck enjoying an unexpected sleepover in Rubio's desk (and nibbling his math assignment) to Slither, the high school teacher's pet boa constrictor, making regular appearances. Mr. Clodfelter, known for his rumored collection of maybe a hundred snakes, suddenly takes an intense interest in the fourth-grade rats. Chaos peaks when the rats escape their cage, launching a school-wide hunt. Can the students track them down before the exterminator is called? And could a rat-hating girl like Victoria possibly have a change of heart?
Packed with humor and heart, No Rats in School is a charming story about unlikely friendships, mischief, and how students connect with their extraordinary classroom pets.
