The Goddess and The Gunner
A tale of heroism and love in the midst of war. The next part of the epic adventure story of United States Marine Gunnery Sergeant Michael Smith. The son of World War II Congressional Medal of Honor Winner Herald Smith, at age eighteen, Michael volunteers for the Marines in 1967 and is sent to fight on a Swift Boat in Vietnam. Out on patrol on the Cua Viet River in June of 1968, his boat is attacked by a UFO, and Michael is taken captive. Carried into outer space, he is recruited by none other than Zeus, the King of the Ancient Greek Gods. Originally from Atlantis, the Gods have been fighting in a rebellion of human slaves against an immortal alien race known as the Korantians and their human allies, the Harrapans, for thousands of years! Allied with the Nazcan people, a group of rebellious humans from South America, the Gods have been seeking a strategy to defeat the Korantians. Zeus and his beautiful daughter, the Goddess Athena, convince Michael to forsake his family and life on earth to join their quest to save humanity from the alien Korantians!
Their own planet dying, the Korantians are in the process of colonizing earth to save their species. A development force of 150,000 Korantians has come to the planet on three Supermotherships. They have been employing the human race as their slaves to prepare the earth for the arrival of their main Colonization Fleet. In doing so they undertake genetic engineering of their slaves to adapt to the savagery of the Planet Earth. Their development plans sow the seeds of their own destruction as they try to forge a new life in a new world. They are faced with the rebellion of their human slaves in Atlantis. Now the development force is holding out for their Colonization Fleet made up of 1000 Supermotherships and containing 50 million Korantians. It is due to arrive sometime between the years 2030 and 2100. When their Colonization Fleet arrives, the Korantians will crush the rebellion, take over planet earth, eliminate most of its human population, and enslave the rest. Both adversaries have hidden their activities from the societies of earth to forestall hindering social development and thus, human technology. A treatise on how an immortal existence leads to decadence and decay until survival is threatened. It is only through the struggle for life than an intelligent species can find meaning to its existence and flourish. A story of how a people who have everything in the Universe might ultimately lose it because they are no longer wanting of what is important!
In The Goddess and The Gunner, Book 11 of the Perpetual Wars-Special Relativity Series, Michael Smith and the Goddess Athena finally have their Atlantean Wedding. Afterwards, the Atlantean-Alliance launches an offensive to defeat the enemy Korantians who are currently on earth and in orbit around the planet. After the first battle, Michael and Athena are parted as she and the Goddesses Aphrodite, Leto and Tyche, takes all of his children to earth to protect, nurture and train them. Commander Zeus decides to take a desperate measure to ensure victory. Meanwhile, the Korantians have not been idle. They have begun implementing Sayatin's strategy to stymie the rebellion in anticipation of the arrival of their Colonization Fleet.
