Plant based adjuvants are relatively unique in exhibiting few of these limitations and have the advantage that they are potent inducers of both cellular and humoral immunity, making them suitable for a wide spectrum of prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines.High antibody titres and a relatively uniform response can often be achieved by the use of adjuvants.However, alum has been in use since long as an adjuvant for vaccines and there is lack in efficiency and duration of effect or have unacceptable local reactions. However, its use as a vaccine adjuvant offers limitation in supporting cell mediated response. Whilst several different adjuvants have been proposed over the last few decades, the vast majority have not been successful in being approved for human use, with limitations including lack of efficacy,unacceptable local or systemic toxicity, difficulty of manufacture, poor stability and prohibitive cost.In this book, described about plant based candidate isolated from medicinal plants, which may be considered as a better vaccine adjuvant candidate in comparison to alum, to improve the seroconversion rate as well cytokines and induced protection after vaccination.
