The main concern of this study is the 'route followed by Deputy Heads and also the preparation of Deputy Heads to become Head Teacher in secondary schools.Preparation is carried out on an ad-hoc basis in terms of sending potential and identified Deputy Heads for training locally and abroad. Additionally, academic research on preparing for headship by local researcher is very new in Brunei where there is more concern with training and development of school heads and the skills that they require but not with specifically investigating in depth the preparation of School Heads. This study therefore was conducted to endeavor to highlight the learning process of preparing for headship in government secondary schools in Brunei.
