This book is the fruit of the author's life devoted to preaching and pastoral ministry, shaped by the calling and grace he received from the Lord and by his lifelong devotion to the Scriptures.

In his early twenties, he first heard the gospel and received Jesus Christ as his Savior. Only four months after his conversion, through the powerful work of the Holy Spirit, his eyes were opened to the glory of God's gospel revealed in Scripture as he listened to a series of expository sermons on Romans at a Bible conference held at the church he attended.

Five years after his conversion, he entered seminary, where he received theological training and prepared for the ministry of the gospel. In his third year, he encountered the expository sermons on Romans by Martyn Lloyd-Jones and began translating them into Korean. Over the next twenty-nine years, he completed the Korean translation of all fourteen volumes of Lloyd-Jones's monumental Romans series. Alongside his pastoral ministry, he was also invited to teach special courses on Romans at theological seminaries and churches throughout Korea. This book is the fruit of the author's lifelong ministry centered on the gospel of Romans.

Volume One presents a careful exposition of Romans 1:1-5:21. Following the text of Romans closely, the author explains and bears witness to the power of God's love and grace: although humanity stands under the wrath of God because of sin, God freely justifies sinners and conforms them to the image of Christ. At the heart of this book is the doctrine of justification by faith, the very heart of the gospel. From this central truth, the author unfolds the power and glory of God's gospel, which saves by grace all who believe in Jesus Christ and abide in Him. Through this book, readers will encounter the spiritual heritage and essence of the gospel that God entrusted to the Apostle Paul.

Volume Two, to be published subsequently, will continue the exposition from Romans 6 through the final chapter, Romans 16.
