An Author's Note to the Faithful Reader.
The pages of this compendium were not birthed from the modern desire for self-expression, nor are they the product of original philosophical innovation. In the school of Catholic Tradition, true wisdom is not invented; it is received, guarded, and handed down. Therefore, the inspiration for these maxims and verses must be traced back to its true source: the timeless and unalterable deposits of the Magisterium Ordinarium, the silent contemplation before the Tabernacle, and the white-hot examples of the Holy Martyrs and Saints who walked the narrow path before us.
Every poem in this volume was structured as an interior echo of the Liturgy-specifically the venerable Latin Mass-where human speech willingly retreats so that the Divine Mystery may fill the silence. The verses seek to capture the objective, solemn, and hierarchical beauty of a faith that does not bend to the caprices of the twentieth or twenty-first centuries. They are rhythmic weapons forged to defend the castle of the soul against the acid of modern skepticism.
The maxims, positioned as sentinels at the frontiers of each chapter, are culled from the perennial principles of Thomistic clarity and the rigorous spiritual direction of the great counter-reformation masters. Their origin is not the changing sand of human sentiment, but the solid diamond of Dogma. They are written for the Remnant-the small, dense, and unyielding flock of clergy and laity who have resolved to hold the line, to keep the ancient lamps burning, and to remain obedient to the Incommutable God, even if the entire world should fall into the sleep of apostasy.
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed Nomini Tuo da gloriam.
