The technique used in todays orthodontics involves metal or elastomeric ligature to attach an archwire to a bracket. Ligating the archwire to the bracket slot in this way can be quite time consuming and that is why self-ligating brackets were developed. These brackets hold the archwire in the bracket slot and replaces the steel/elastomeric ligature.So this book attempts to discuss the insight depth regarding the usefulness of SLB. The long, slow, yet quickly accelerating ascend to noticeable quality of self-ligation has accordingly brought up a plenty of bracket design, treatment procedure, and treatment objectives. Thus, with continued research and developments it is believed self-ligating systems are going to replace the cumbersome ligating systems in future.
