If it ever comes, I will not do it.
For eight years, Greta has lived a quiet life in San Antonio. She runs five miles every morning. She helps patients learn to walk again. She's married to Mike, a detective who makes eggs on Sundays, and she's raising two children she would do anything to protect.
None of them know who she really is.
Trained in Moscow since she was nine, Greta was placed in America to wait. Then one December afternoon, four Russian words arrive on her phone, and the waiting is over. Her target is a senator who might become president. She has forty-five days.
Greta has always told herself she would refuse. But the people who made her have planned for that. When her son disappears from school, the choice she thought she'd already made becomes impossible.
With the clock running, Greta has to do the one thing she swore she never would: tell her husband the truth and trust him to help her bring their son home.
Sleeper is a tense, intimate thriller about a woman made for a single purpose and the life she chose instead.
