The inconvenient truth about making strategic change happen is that 70% to 90% of plans are never implemented or fail. This is not a revelation. Both the practice and academic communities have known this for decades. But it has raised some critical questions in our minds, which the authors have sought to explore through our research and consulting in the areas of strategy, change management, and organizational behaviour. Mobilizing the Workforce is the culmination of the authors' explorations from these three perspectives. Whilst these explorations have been complex and in-depth, the aim has remained simple - to present readers with a practical understanding about why strategic change consistently fails, and most importantly, what to do, and how to go about it. This book presents two key arguments as why so many strategic change efforts fail to have the desired impact: 1. The conventional manner in which most strategic change initiatives are still being developed and; 2. The inability to mobilize a critical mass of People who Can, Know, or Want to turn developed strategies into enduring execution
