The 2011 reform of nursing education significantly altered the landscape of training for public health nursing students. To develop the skills required for their future roles, students-in addition to their theoretical training-are supported by healthcare professionals during their placements. The three-year (3) degree programme leads to a vocational bachelor's degree in nursing. This programme, which examines the human person in a holistic manner-whether in health or illness and at all stages of life-places equal emphasis on the humanities, basic sciences, professional sciences and medical-surgical sciences as it does on hospital and non-hospital placements. The placement is a training tool, which implies placement objectives, supervision and assessment. Its ultimate aim remains learning. The portfolio (skills portfolio) is an individual document that belongs to and accompanies each student. It is intended for both the student and the supervising staff within healthcare services.Azouz ALIANE, born in Algeria, holds a degree in nursing.
