Hear then the canon, the map of the bow, which governed my seven volumes and governeth now this one. Red is the first band, and Power is the first crown; and he that receiveth it is THE SON OF POWER. Orange is the second band, and Riches is the second crown; and he that receiveth it is THE STEWARD OF RICHES. Yellow is the third band, and Wisdom is the third crown; and he that receiveth it is THE SAGE OF WISDOM. Green is the fourth band, and Strength is the fourth crown; and he that receiveth it is THE PILLAR OF STRENGTH. Blue is the fifth band, and Honour is the fifth crown; and he that receiveth it is THE BEARER OF HONOUR. Indigo is the sixth band, and Glory is the sixth crown; and he that receiveth it is THE CARRIER OF GLORY. Violet is the seventh band, and Blessing is the seventh crown; and he that receiveth it is THE FOUNTAIN OF BLESSING. Seven bands, seven crowns, seven identities, one Lamb, one throne, one bow.
Wherefore call I them identities, and not merely gifts? Because a gift may lie unopened in the house of a fool, but an identity walketh about in shoes. The doxology saith the Lamb was worthy to RECEIVE; and receiving, in the economy of heaven, is not the passing of a parcel but the putting on of a person. When the son receiveth power, he doth not carry power as a porter carrieth another man's box: he BECOMETH the son of power, as iron in the fire becometh fiery. The crowns are not ornaments upon the head of the old man; they are the seven faces of the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
And what is the engine of the receiving? Adoption. Mark that word, for it is the master key of all that followeth: MANIFESTATION BY ADOPTION. The Greek calleth it υἱοθεσία (huiothesia), the placing of sons.
