As the‑only country worldwide with an unbroken civilization, China owes much to its ancient texts and cultural heritage, irreplaceable carriers for passing down Chinese culture. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has stressed the need to carry forward China's cultural lineage and advance the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese culture. Against this backdrop, it has become an urgent priority for the new‑era to advance the compilation and publication of ancient books, alongside the research, conservation and application of cultural heritage, invigorate the cultural communication power of ancient Chinese classics, and consolidate the academic foundation for the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage.

中国之所以成为世界上唯一一个文明没有中断的国家，文化典籍与文化遗产作为中华文化传承的重要载体，可谓无可替代，功不可没。党的十八大以来，习近平总书记强调要着力赓续中华文脉、推动中华优秀传统文化创造性转化和创新性发展，由此如何在新时代做好古籍整理出版与文化遗产研究、保护、利用等工作，激活中华古籍的文化传播力，筑牢文化遗产保护传承的学术根基，已成为当务之急。
