Raised in a remote Highland glen by his father-a hard, old-school deer stalker-Rory MacLean grew up hunting in the mountains, enduring brutal weather and solving problems with whatever lay to hand.
Now, shattered by the death of his fiancée, MacLean wants nothing more than a quiet life in his isolated cottage, with only his dog and the Scottish Highlands for company.
But when his closest friend is murdered and the evidence points to MacLean, he is forced to run. Hunted by the police and pursued by ruthless killers, he uncovers a conspiracy far darker than he ever imagined.
With his friend's widow and children in deadly danger, MacLean must draw on both his engineer's ingenuity and the relentless instincts of the hunter he was raised to be. Because this time, finding the truth isn't enough. He'll need to survive long enough to take his revenge.
Perfect for readers of Mark Dawson, Robert Enright, Kerry Donovan, David Archer and Nick Petrie, The Engineer introduces Rory MacLean-a resourceful new thriller hero whose greatest strengths are the instincts of a Highland hunter and the analytical mind of an engineer.
