Anthony Owen is a Brisbane-based founder, investor, and capital advisor with thirty years of experience across technology, media, and startup ecosystems in Australia and the United States.
He has served as Director and CEO across multiple companies with public market exposure, spanning capital raising, global expansion, and multinational commercial operations. He took Manalto - a social media management platform - to the Australian Stock Exchange and built its US distribution network, raising capital in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
He currently works as a hands-on capital advisor, helping founders prepare businesses for serious investor scrutiny - governance, compliance, structure, disclosure, and capital discipline. He works with accelerator programs across technology, agtech, health, women's enterprise, and indigenous business, and manages a network of high-net-worth individual investors and family offices.
He competed in offshore yacht racing at the highest amateur level for fifteen years, including multiple Sydney to Hobart races - among them the 1998 race in which six sailors died and fifty-five were rescued in the largest peacetime search and rescue operation in Australian history.
He sailed on the HMAV Bounty in the First Fleet Re-enactment Voyage 1986-1988 - nearly two years at sea from Fiji to England and return.
The Opportunist is his first book.
