A deep dive into the history of domestic sound that reveals how Braun audio changed the face of modern design.
From Edison s Phonograph to Bluetooth speakers, this richly illustrated visual history traces the evolution of audio equipment from the late nineteenth century to the digital present. At its centre is Braun, whose radios, record players and Hi-Fi systems helped redefine the relationship between technology, the home and modern living.
This Is Audio explores the birth and development of Braun audio design, from its foundations in postwar Germany to its lasting influence on product design, listening culture and domestic interiors. Written by Braun design expert Peter Kapos and illustrated with more than 250 images, many of them newly commissioned, this book reveals how functional clarity, technical innovation and aesthetic restraint made Braun one of the most important names in twentieth-century design.
An essential book for design enthusiasts, Hi-Fi collectors and anyone interested in the history of modern technology and industrial design.
