Thoreau s search §for a kind of absolute personal freedom closely §relates to the inspiring force of his Civil §Disobedience, indeed a most influential political §writing. My book, besides enriching the vast field §of Thoreau studies, is aiming at an exploration of §his ideas from a social point of view, it tries to §hold a mirror to them from the perspective of our §very days, and thus it speaks to every socially §aware reader.
