Becoming a police officer was everything she had worked for.
Driven by a desire to help others and make a difference, she joined the force believing that hard work, resilience and determination would be enough. But the reality of policing is far more complicated than she imagined.
As a Black woman in uniform, she quickly discovers that the challenges do not end when she earns the badge. While facing the dangers and demands of frontline policing, she must also navigate prejudice, scrutiny and the pressure of constantly proving her worth. At work, she is expected to be strong. In her community, she is questioned. Everywhere she turns, she struggles to find where she truly belongs.
With every victim she comforts, every crisis she responds to and every sacrifice she makes, the job begins to take its toll. The more she gives to serving others, the harder it becomes to recognise herself beneath the uniform.
