Virtual microprocessors are software-based analogical models of computing hardware. To create them requires programming highly complex integrated circuits known as VLSIs (Very Large Scale Integration) to be cellular neural networks (CNNs). CNNs are electronic mini organism-like cells that can re-apply memorised information and modify their own operation accordingly without external reprogramming. Opening with a foreword by the respected academic, Professor Leon Chua, the book progresses to explore circuit design, prototyping and analogical algorithms.
