The synthetic theory of evolution (STE) is a system that is a reference in modern biology and acts as its mobilizing core. Its representatives call themselves modern neo-Darwinists, representatives of Darwinism updated with modern knowledge, because neo-Darwinism retains the idea of biological evolution by natural selection, which was supplemented by the idea of natural selection mechanisms of genetically determined traits.
