The history of the synthetic theory of evolution described above shows that this theory has been shaped and refined by eminent representatives of a wide variety of scientific disciplines overthe course of the twentieth century, with its origins dating back to the achievements of the last decades of the nineteenth century. It is a fundamental theory that has itself evolved over a long period of time on the basis of the efforts of scientists and in the light of data from genetics, cell theory, molecular biology, breeding , embryology, biochemistry and biophysics, ecology, paleontology, and a number of other scientific disciplines of the biological cycle, with the inclusion of knowledge from microphysics, chemistry, and cybernetics about the behavior of objects of inanimate nature. The synthetic theory of evolution (STE) is a system that is a reference in modern biology and acts as its mobilizing core. Its representatives call themselves modern neo-Darwinists, representatives of Darwinism updated with modern knowledge, because neo-Darwinism retains the idea of biological evolution by natural selection, which was supplemented by the idea of natural selection mechanisms of genetically determined traits.
