Short story collection by David Garvin. White Sun: Stories from Hispanoamérica is a haunting collection of intersecting stories about good and evil in the coastal villages and jungles in the Mexican state of Yucatan. Innocence, beauty, and corruption fuels the lives of its inhabitants and tourists alike. Rich and evocative, these stories will stay with the reader long after the last goodbye. David Garvin's stories have been published in Pleiades ("Pentecost Night"), Literal Latté ("Jersey Street"), and Zuzu's Petals ("Thuggish Cuckoos"). He has read his work at KGB, NYC. One of his stories won the 1st Place National Story Award presented by Birmingham College ("Palo Mayombe"). Another, Coyote's Lair, Mojave, a novella, was a semifinalist in The Paris Prize 2013, while his short story, "White Sun," won a partial scholarship to the Dzanc Books/CNC DISQUITE International Literary Program in Lisbon Summer 2013. Garvin lived in Yucatán for most of the Seventies, where he owned a restaurant. He has written four plays, three of which were produced in NYC: Malecón and High Jolly at Theatre Genesis and Lawless William at La Mama ETC.
