Amid the harrowing confines of a Japanese POW camp, an Aussie captain shares stories with a seriously injured Dutch prisoner. Tales of the captain's enigmatic friend, Sam, become the younger POW's lifeline to sanity and survival, offering glimpses of a life less brutal-a life filled with daring escapades, romantic loves, and heartbreaking losses.
Originating in Prussia, the stories trace Sam's tumultuous journey which spans three decades, three continents, and encompasses two world wars. From a mischievous troubled youth, Sam evolves into a charismatic con man. Despite his apparent flaws, his grandmother foretells that he will rise from the shadows as an unexpected hero.
Sam's struggle with destiny leads him on an incredible odyssey. The gripping dual timeline explores the murky area between good and evil in a dance that epitomises the essence of humanity. Based on the true story of Samuel Solonsch, a man of humour, heart, and legendary courage; this book leaves an indelible mark that resonates long after you've turned the final page.
For fans of epic journeys of redemption, 'Yours as Ever, Sam,' stands shoulder to shoulder with literary gems like 'All the Light We Cannot See,' 'The Tattooist of Auschwitz,' and 'Unbroken.'
